Despite
its status of the Capital of Scotland, Edinburgh has always played second
fiddle to Glasgow in the size and complexity of it's railway network.
Following the Beeching Cuts of the 1960's, Edinburgh was for a while left
with only three passenger stations, Waverley, Haymarket and Slateford,
fewer than some smaller provincial towns such as Coatbridge and Paisley.
Some regeneration has taken place with the opening of new stations at South
Gyle and Mussleburgh, but large scale projects such as the reopening of
the Edinburgh Suburban Line have yet to get past the planning stages.
This in a city choked with traffic, which plays host to the new Scottish
Parliament .
My
photographic experiences in and around the city have been limited
to the following locations. Either click on the map above, or on
a thumbnail photograph to go to the gallery.

will take you to my other site "The
Wider Picture", a link exists there to bring you back to the main site.

The page colour was picked to match the LRT buses, not a certain second rate football team !
