| Class J35
Variety was most certainly not the watchword with this class, as the same eight locomotives were allocated from late 1948 until the first withdrawals in 1959, and six of them were there in LNER days! |

| Class J37
The J37s were relative newcomers to the shed, the first two not arriving until 1951. Further locomotives appeared in 1957 & 1959 eventually bringing the total to five. 64593 (right) was the last steam locomotive to be transferred to Kipps shed in 1961 |

A total of 24 class J36s were allocated to Kipps from 1947 to 1962. Members of the class were steadily being withdrawn since Nationalisation and a total of 10 locos had already been withdrawn as early as 1957.
