The class C15 shedded at Kipps would appear to have been rostered to work passenger trains on the ex Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton & Coatbridge line. The photograph on the right shows 7475 at the Hamilton terminus in 1948. This locomotive was transferred to Eastfield in November 1950 and was replaced by 67467. |

|
The smallest of the North British "Pugs" were ideal for shunting duties in the yards of the local iron and steel works, where sharp curves and poor quality track could be expected. Some locomotives were permanently attached to a wooden tender (marked * in the table). Several locomotives were hired out at times to local factories, details are given in the notes after the allocation tables |

| Class J88
The J88 could be described as an "intermediate" shunting locomotive,
having a greater tractive effort than the Y9 yet retaining a short wheelbase
even though it is an 0-6-0. None of the J88s survived to see the
closure of the depot, the last one being withdrawn in November 1960.

One can only wonder why, when diesel shunters were already being allocated to the depot, two former North Eastern designed J72 were transferred from Eastfield to Kipps in Jan.1958 and Jan.1959. Although transferred to other Lanarkshire sheds both ended their days in the Monklands |
