| Thanks
to its convenient position on the route from the South to MC Metals' springburn
disposal point, Mossend became a regular staging post for withdrawn locomotives.
The former 45066 (D114) renumbered as 97413 and bearing the unofficial
name "Amethyst" is seen in the yard. |

| Coupled to 45066 was 45048 also adorned with
an unofficial name |

| Most of the former
class 508 Manchester - Bury EMU's were disposed of at MC Metals, four such
units are stabled in no.3 down reception line awaiting a tow to Springburn.
Note the similarity of the Greater Manchester PTE livery to that of the
Strathclyde livery. |
